This one's deceptively good, by the way. First, I like the balance of colors: green dominates and kind of surrounds three corners of the frame, offset with brown-orange and black and white. Second, the goose/loon stands out against the bright lake background that it's in. Overall it feels very balanced and it matches the calm atmosphere of the scene. Also, the balance between bright, dark and medium tones works well-- this would also be a good black-and-white photo in that sense, with the darkness and brightness of the lake, surrounded by the medium-toned grass around the edges (but it is better and more complete as it is, in color).
